Due to the high water levels the commune has ordered two containers with flood barriers.
The containers with one kilometre long barriers from the “Myndigheten för Samhällsskydd och beredskap”, MSB, (the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency) have already arrived.
– They are barriers that will be used to build a provisional bank. It is to fence bigger areas such as an industrial area, says Anders Olofsson, Fire Engineer at the Emergency Services in Kristianstad.
If flooding occurs, it is important to ensure that there is a supply of drinking water and that the sewage system works.
MSB has sent metal barriers that are easy and fast to build. Should the situation deteriorate, the commune may also receive pumps that can pump out water that has come inside the embankment, as well as sandbags.
The Emergency Services ordered the barriers on Friday when there was a high flow in Helge å, in Finjasjön, Skräbeån and Mörrumsån.
But so far there is no danger of flooding.
On the Epiphany day the water level was 1.85 metres at the measuring station in Barbacka. On Sunday the level had fallen to 1.83 metres.
