Last year more than 1500 came along to the Eid festival in Tivoli park.This year’s Eid festival will take place on 17th June, with a fairground and several new artists. And perhaps better weather.
A magician will provide entertain -ment, there will be dancing – dabkha is a must. There is a tent with a workshop for children, a puppet theatre, face-painting and lots more. And a lot of food, of course. Music as well – different styles, from hip-hop to rap and other kinds too.
– Through our Kreativa Platser (Creative Places) project we’ve been able to identify culture workers from Gamlegården, Musicians and artists, seven or eight people altogether, who will take part, says Jamal Abdulle.
The compere will be Hamza Hirsi, a DJ, poet and performance artist who grew up in Kristianstad.
Why an Eid festival?
– Eid is celebrated for three days to mark the end of Ramadan. People get together to wish one another Happy Eid, Eid Mubarak in Arabic.
Children get money to buy new clothes and sweets, says Abrar Al Shaubaki, who is responsible for planning the Eid festival.
– This year we’re hoping for some sunshine, we didn’t get much of that last year, says Abrar Al Shaubaki.
– We all come together in friendship and love.
The drum attack will start at Centralen at 12.45 and drum its way along to Tivoli park.The festival will go on from 1 pm till 22 pm. The arrangers are Kreativa Platser and Kulturkvarteret.
