The police have identified the person found deceased at Ivö Lake this summer. It was a 16-year-old unaccompanied refugee, who most likely drowned.
The deceased was found by a tourist on July 22nd, on the beach at Ivö Lake, south of Kjugekull. The police reported that it was a male who was 170-17 cm in height. There was no suspicion of criminal activity, but the police called for information from the public.
There were several tips and a clue, an item of clothing that someone found which was of particular interest. The item of clothing was sent to the NFC, Nationellt forensiskt centrum (the National Forensic Centre), and a DNA profile was confirmed.
Now the police have confirmed the identity of the deceased. It was a 16-year-old unaccompanied refugee and his guardian has been contacted.
The 16-year-old disappeared in May from a residence in Bromölla. Two months later he was found by Ivö Lake. The police believe that the 16-year-old probably drowned and that it was an accident.
He was from Libya. The police have informed the Libyan embassy.
